As a mechanic specialising in DPFs why do you recommend the JLM DPF products for commercial vehicles and cars? 
They contain a high concentration of Cerium and Platinum. In our experience this allows regeneration to take place at a much lower temperature in a much shorter time. And it’s safer too. The advantage of cleaning at a lower temperature is that it’s more effective in vehicles for example used for city runs without the risk of damaging the DPF at an excessively high temperature.   
 
What is the advantage of Cerium? 
Because Cerium does not produce ash, a mechanic doesn’t have to spend time test driving a vehicle after its application. Other products tend to have a much higher metal content which means more ash in the long term.  
 
What is the sign of a faulty DPF?  
The vehicle will experience lack of power and the engine will usually go into restricted performance mode. This means an unplanned visit to the workshop where it’s usually outsourced by the mechanic to a specialist company.  A mechanic can keep DPF business in house using JLM’s products and the professional DPF cleaning toolkit. They can use the JLM DPF cleaning products in their workshop as prevention and cure. 
What is the need for the JLM DPF Cleaner with commercial vehicles?   
Commercial vehicles face the same issues with DPF filters as cars but with the added problems of vehicle downtime whilst being repaired. City vehicles such as refuse trucks, road sweepers and delivery vans are especially vulnerable as regeneration is unlikely to be successful due to the driving conditions. Using this product regularly to clean the DPF whilst the vehicle is in use will dramatically reduce downtime. The JLM DPF cleaner for commercial vehicles has been designed for heavy duty vehicles including heavy plant and agricultural vehicles where the exhaust system incorporates a DPF unit. It has the same formulation as the JLM DPF Cleaner for cars. It’s simply double the quantity. 
 
Any long term benefits from using these products? 
Yes, there’s a conditioning effect which means that if the JLM DPF products are used in the long term, performance can continue to improve – at an overall lower metal content.  When we benchmarked the JLM products against others we discovered that some had a fairly good level of metal but they produced significantly more ash whereas others had such a low level of metal it was difficult to see how they could be effective at all.  Quite simply the JLM range of DPF cleaners can regenerate the filter at a lower temperature and at a low metal content with improving performance with continuous use. 
 
Your favourite JLM products? 
I was involved in the development of the JLM Air Intake Extreme Clean Toolkit Pro which was launched in the same week as the new lower smoke limits were introduced to the MOT test in the UK. We’ve saved dozens of cars from the scrap yard. In one recent case a taxi came to our HQ having failed the new smoke test a few days earlier. It had been fully serviced with a new, genuine DPF filter but it failed the retest with almost the same results. Within a few hours we had the owner and his taxi back on the road earning a living after treating it with the Air Intake Extreme Clean Toolkit Pro. It went straight through the retest. We were lucky enough to be involved with the pre-launch testing and saw equally incredible results. 5 vehicles with sticky turbo vanes were data logged before and after the treatment. On 4 of them boost levels came back into spec and out of limp mode. The other vehicle required a new turbo as it was past the point of no return. Sticking turbo vanes are a common problem in modern vehicles due to carbon build up, so this new product is proving popular with our customers.
